An Optometrist has stressed the importance of regular eye checkups.
Speaking in an interview with Q-News to mark eye safety awareness week which is observed starting the last Sunday of June, Druscilla Kaninsa of City Eye Hospital says not having regular eye checkups could result in one ending up missing an abnormality that should have been detected earlier such as blindness.
Ms Kaninsa says detecting any eye problem early can help in preventing its degeneration or if a preventative measure cannot be put in place, control it.
She has since encouraged people to regularly visit with optometrists to have their eyes checked.
