Permanent Secretary for Technical Services in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Maambo Haamaundu says the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will help address rural-urban migration.

Mr Hamaundu says the prudent utilization of the K25.7 million CDF will stimulate economic activities in the 156 constituencies of the country and consequently result in urban-rural migration.

He says allowing each constituency to drive its developmental agenda and set its own priorities through decentralization will unlock the economic potential of various constituencies.

Mr Hamaundu states that if constituencies especially in rural areas get their priorities right, this will result in a movement of people from urbanized areas to rural parts of the country because of improved economic activities.
