Zambian Breweries has announced a US$80 million package of capital investment which will see its beer production capacity double at its Lusaka plant over the next 18 months.

The investment, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023, is expected to create more direct and indirect jobs, expand the country’s agriculture out-grower schemes, offer further procurement opportunities for local suppliers and service providers, and contribute additional tax revenue to government.

Zambian Breweries Country Director Michelle Kilpin says the company is pleased that it’s forging an even closer partnership with the government of Zambia in support of its economic recovery and growth programme.

Ms Kilpin says the investment will not only enhance the company’s production capacity but will also significantly contribute to the wider national economy.

She adds that the new investment is in addition to the company’s long-standing contribution to the Zambian economy over many years, with just under US$400 million spent on capital investment programmes in the last decade.

And Zambian Breweries Chairperson Monica Musonda says the new investment of US$80 million is another demonstration of Zambian Breweries’ long term commitment and contribution to Zambia.
