MOH closely monitoring the situation of affected pupils at Lunte Girls Technical Secondary School

The Ministry of Health says it is investigating what it has termed as a movement disorder condition that has been reported at Lunte Girls Technical Secondary School in Lunte district of Northern Province.

The ministry has however assured that this should not be cause for substantial public health concern.

Lunte Girls technical secondary school has reported numerous cases of female pupils having similar signs and symptoms of difficulty in walking, weakness and painful knees and ankles.

Speaking during the routine COVID-19 update, Ministry of health permanent secretary in-charge of technical services professor Lackson Kasonka disclosed that the ministry of health has moved in to investigate the condition and ascertain what the cause of the condition is.

Professor Kasonka says the affected pupils are being monitored while samples have been collected for health experts to run tests to help ascertain what exactly the condition which has affected 27 girls is.

And ministry of health Director Infectious Diseases Professor Lloyd Mulenga strongly suspects the condition might be linked to some psycho-genic disorder, while Ministry Public Health Dr Patricia bobo suspects it is a movement condition that is prevalent in adolescent girls.

and professor kasonka has disclosed that the country has passed half of its targeted 70 percent of people to be vaccinated by the end of june with over 4.4 million people having so far been vaccinated.
