The UPND-Alliance council of presidents is dismayed and shocked by what it terms as overzealous, insensitive, and immature statements, by UPND Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa, against the Alliance Partners.
During a press briefing yesterday Mr Mweetwa says although individual political leaders of the alliance played their role in ensuring that the party emerged victorious in the 2021 polls, ordinary citizens played the biggest role and that those claiming that all the 12 upnd alliance members must be in the cabinet are demanding for too much.
Reacting to this statement the upnd-Alliance Council Of President says whereas the upnd spokesperson demeaned and minimized the contributions of the alliance partners, as little in 2021 general elections, the contrary is true.
Alliance Spokesperson, Daniel Shimunza says it is such irresponsible and immature statements, which has made some alliance partners, to be apprehensive.
Dr. Shimunza says whereas, Mr Mweetwa, should have confined himself to his functions as party spokesperson , he has recently exposed his ignorance and unmeasured utterances, by overstepping his commentaries on matters related to government policy, which is the role of the chief government spokesperson.
He has challenged all UPND members, who are peddling the narrative that the alliance partners, are not part of the UPND administration because they contributed very little, to ask the republican president and vice president to say the same publicly.
