The Department of Immigration has apprehended 67 persons in a clean-up operation conducted in various parts of Kitwe.
Confirming the development Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka says the 67 persons were apprehended yesterday.
Mr. Nshinka says those nabbed are 34 Tanzanians from Chisokone market for trading without permits, and 14 Chinese for abrogating the terms and conditions of their immigration permits.
He says others apprehended are 11 suspected prohibited Immigrants, 5 Congolese,2 Burundians, and 1 Malawian.
Mr. Nshinka has explained that the operation was jointly conducted by immigration officers from Ndola and Kitwe following a public outcry over an influx of illegal immigrants.
He adds that screening of those nabbed is underway.
