PF MPs seek Govt solutions to cost of living

Some Patriotic Front Members of Parliament have called the new dawn government to provide a plan on how it intends to address the high cost of living in the country.

Patriotic Front Mfuwe Member of Parliament Maureen Mabonga says the high cost of living the country has been subjected to under the new dawn Government is a source of concern.

Addressing Journalists in Lusaka today, Ms. Mabonga says many Zambians are facing economic hardships and getting desperate to know when things will improve.

She has accused the UPND Government if becoming complacent with people’s concerns when they promised to reduce the cost of living while in opposition. 

Speaking at the same event leader of the opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile who is also Mporokoso Member of Parliament has called upon the new dawn government to ensure that each time the president travels out of the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents to Parliament a report outlining the possible benefits of the international trips undertaken by the president.

Mr. Mundubile adds that there is also need to know the size of the entourage the President carries with him.

And Patriotic Front Lupososhi Member of Parliament Emmanuel Musonda is appealing to the Head of State to consider increasing the price of a 50kg bag of maize.

Meanwhile former Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo has castigated senior UPND member William Banda for what he termed as practicing primitive politics.

Mr. Banda has come under fire for his sexist remarks in a video that has gone viral against New Heritage Party president Chishala Kateka after she staged a lone protest against the high cost of living in the country.

Mr. Kampyongo who is also Shiwang’andu Member of Parliament says Mr. Banda as a senior politician should understands that politics have evolved.

He says the days of looking down on the women folk are long gone.

Mr Kampyongo says women have an equal space when dealing with public matters, thus the need for the UPND leadership to cage Mr. Banda.
