Zambia commemorates African public service day

Acting President Mutale Nalumango says government is implementing carefully selected interventions to enhance the resilience of the public service in supporting and facilitating the realization of nutritional needs during and post covid-19 pandemic.

Mrs. Nalumango says the new dawn administration is committed to providing a conducive environment for the public service to perform according to the expectations of citizens. 

She says government is eager to enhance the presence and relevance of the public service to its citizens.

Mrs. Nalumango says government has accelerated the implementation of the national decentralization policy.

The acting president says the increased constituency development fund is a clear testimony of government’s resolve to take services and development closer to the people.

Speaking in Lusaka during the commemoration of the African Public Service Day which is celebrated every year on 23rd June, Mrs. Nalumango says the constituency development fund will catalyze increased economic activities at local level leading to improving the welfare of the citizens at the constituency level, thereby impacting positively on their food security and nutrition status.

Speaking earlier, Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has vowed to get rid of bad eggs in the public services as directed by the cabinet that acknowledged the public outcry.

And Zambia Congress of Trade Unions Secretary General Cosmas Mukuka has advised the government to improve the working conditions and enumeration for the public services workers.
