ACC arrests director of kafue gorge

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested and charged former director of Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) for corruption involving USD 35,000 (Thirty-Five Thousand United States Dollars).

Commission Spokesperson Queen K. Chibwe says Kaela Kennedy Siame aged 57 of camp 1 Kafue gorge has been charged with 9 counts of abuse of authority of office contrary to section 21 (1) (a) as read with section 41 of the anti-corruption act number 3 of 2012.

Mrs. Chibwe says Mr. Siame is alleged to have abused his authority of office when he, on multiple occasions between 2016 and 2020, arbitrarily approved applications for subsistence allowances amounting to USD 35,000 (thirty-five thousand United States dollars) for a project that was fully sponsored.

In a statement availed to QTV news, Mrs. Chibwe says Mr. Siame’s actions as a public officer to abuse his authority of office are prejudicial to the rights and interests of the government of the republic of Zambia as the transactions involve the Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre, which is a public body.

She says Mr. Siame has been released on bond and will appear in court on 28th June, 2022.
