Kambwili formally charged

Police in Kasama have formally charged and arrested PF presidential aspirant Chishimba Kambwili.

Mr Kambwili aged 53 of Woodlands in Lusaka has been charged with the offence of expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for persons because of race, tribe or place of origin contrary to section 70(I)  and (II) Chapter 87 as read with ActT no.2 of 2021 of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes of the Laws of Zambia.

He was initially detained in Lusaka yesterday over a matter believed to have occurred between May 2021 and August 2021 at Radio Mano in Kasama, Northern Province.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale says Mr Kambwili remains in Police custody awaiting court appearance.

Meanwhile Police in Kaoma have arrested a 31-year-old teacher of Kashokoto Primary School in Kaoma for sodomy.

Confirming the development to ZANIS, Western Province Acting Commanding Officer, Fwambo Siame says Mwiya Imebo 31, is alleged to have had canal knowledge of his male colleague identified as Alvin Mwanza of Lusaka’s Chawama compound.

 At the time he paid him a visit.

Mr. Siame says the alleged incident happened between June 11 and 12, 2022 when Mwanza who had visited Mwiya was offered a cup of tea shortly before going to bed, believed to have been laced.

He has explained that the duo went to sleep and shared a bed, adding that it was at that moment when the alleged anal penetration took place without consent.

Mr. Siame says the victim only discovered that he had been raped after finding himself messed up in the morning when he woke up.

He states that the matter was reported to police and the victim was subsequently taken to the hospital for a medical report.

Mr. Siame says Mwiya has since been arrested and slapped with a charge of having canal knowledge against the order of nature contrary to section 155 subsection A of the Laws of Zambia.

He has however, been released on police bond and will appear in court soon.

According to the Zambian laws, a person having canal knowledge against the order of nature could save a maximum sentence of 14 years if found guilty by the courts of law.
