Former Agriculture Minister Bob Sichinga says the K160 Maize price government through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has set for a 50 kilogram bag is not attractive.
Mr. Sichinga says the country suffered from adverse weather patterns with some parts receiving rains late resulting in reduced production.
He says based on the estimated production the country will record, a much higher price would have been announced by the Food Reserve Agency.
Mr Sichinga says this is taking into consideration the high cost of production that farmers incurred during the 2021/2022 farming season.
