Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the traditional leadership across the country to work with his New Dawn administration in its quest to champion economic reconstruction.

President Hichilema says his government will not sideline any traditional leader in Zambia because it is operating on the principles of unity and equity of all traditional leaders.

The Head of State was speaking when he officiated at the Ceremonial State Opening of the House of Chief at the Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka today.

He says chiefs are key to Government’s developmental agenda because they play a critical role in fostering national development and stability.

President Hichilema further stated that insinuations of tribalism, ethnicity and other divisive and discriminatory vices should not be entertained to prevail at all costs in Zambia because citizens value unity as a nation.

President Hichilema has also stressed the need for chiefs to support environmental sustainability which has been given prominence by his administration as evidenced by the creation of the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment to spearhead Green Growth passages for a green economy in the era of climate change.

And the Head of State has urged chiefs across the country to participate in the debates of the House and make submissions because they are critical to national development.
