Mutati calls for investment in Zambia’s ICT sector

Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati has called for investment in Zambia that is inclusive of the information and communication technology ICT sector.

Pitching for Zambia at the 7th Digital National Conference in Cairo, Egypt, Mr. Mutati says other areas of investment include digital services and capacity building of skills.

He says Zambia is considering and looking at five percent attainment of the ICT opportunities by the year 2030 in consideration of economic transformation and securing change in the lives of the people of Zambia.

In a statement obtained by Q-news the Minister said Zambia is ready to partner with Egypt at the frontier of technology to a digital nation.

Mr. Mutati says the participation of Zambia at the conference is to share experiences and create key investments from Egypt into Zambia.

He explains that the formulation of a digital Zambia is anchored on three pillars inclusive digital government bus services, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, and digital skills and capacity building

Speaking earlier, Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade Dr Nevin Gamea said it was an important platform for Zambia to engage and learn in the area of ICT in order to comprehensively understand the digital space implementation and cope up with today’s digital world.
