Govt constitutes 5 member mining appeal tribunal

Government has with immediate effect constituted a five-member mining appeals tribunal. 

The appointment of the members is in accordance with section 98 of the mines and minerals development act no. 11 of 2015.

Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Paul Kabuswe explains that the role of the tribunal, among others is to inquire into, make awards and decisions in any dispute relating to exploration, gold panning or mining under the mines and minerals development act.

Mr Kabuswe, has named the newly appointed mat members as Musenga Andrew Musukwa who is the chairperson, Pasmal Hamafuwa, George Chibuye and Willis Muhanga who are all member of the tribunal. 

The minister indicates that the fifth member of the tribunal shall be announced in due course.

Mr. Kabuswe has since congratulated the new members and has urged them to offer service to the nation to enable the mining sector thrive.
