Vedanta Resources has pledged to aggressively run Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) to contribute to the target of 3 million metric tons of Copper production in the next ten years set by the New Dawn Government.

Company Director for Corporate Affairs and Communication Masuzyo Ndhlovu says the company stands ready to support Government and the people of Zambia in providing different services once it returns.

Mr. Ndhlovu says Vedanta has learnt its lessons and will strive to make KCM a prosperous asset to benefit both the government and the people of Zambia.

He was speaking when Vedanta Resources announced a kit sponsorship deal for newly promoted FAZ Eden University Division One side Aguila Stars worth about 258 thousand kwacha in Lusaka today.

Mr. Ndhlovu says Vedanta has a long history of supporting Zambian football through Corporate Social Responsibility having previously supported Nchanga Rangers, Konkola Mine Police, Konkola Blades and Nampundwe Football Clubs as well as the FAZ Super League over a period exceeding fifteen years.

Speaking at the same event, Aguila Stars Club president Chembe Chibwe says the club will not limit itself on what it can achieve in the national division one because it aspires to play in the Super League and Continental football.

Chibwe has thanked Vedanta for the kit sponsorship deal and assured that the club from the Central Province will not disappoint.
