The Medical for Quality Healthcare in Zambia is worried about revelations that about 20 boxes of Coartem have been stolen at Nalolo District Pharmacy Hub in Western Province.
Organization Director General Quince Mwabu has noted the need for a collective effort and will to fight this habit of stealing government’s medicine.
Dr. Mwabu has expressed fear that if this is not curbed, some officers will continue stealing and eventually the country will lose many lives especially the children in rural areas who are dying from malaria.
Dr. Mwabu is therefore urging the ministry of health to tighten security in all pharmacy hubs across the country.
