Former Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has been acquitted by the Chinsali Magistrate Court in a case in which he together with six others were charged with the offence of endangering the Safety of Civil Aircraft in flight or service with passengers on board.
This is contrary to section 8(b) (c) and F CAP 445 of the Civil Aviation Act.
Judgment in the matter was delivered today
And commenting on Mr Kampyongo’s acquittal, PF secretary general Nickson Chilangwa has applauded the judiciary for the professional manner in which the case has been handled.
Mr. Chilangwa has accused the UPND administration of trying to malign Mr. Kampyonga as evident in the manner he was arrested and transported from Lusaka to Chinsali.
Meanwhile Mr. Chilangwa has confirmed the arrest and detention of PF member of the central committee Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba commonly known as GBM.
He says Mr Mwamba has been detained at Woodlands Police Station awaiting court appearance on Wednesday, 8th June,2022.
