A lobourer shot dead by police while complaining over poor wages

A named laborer at Kasama’s Kateshi coffee plantation has allegedly been shot dead by a Zambia police officer during a fracas which erupted over poor wages.

This incident which happened yesterday also left two other named casual workers injured.

And laborers spoken to by q news are saddened at the death of their colleague and the injuries sustained by others for merely expressing their grievances.

They narrate that while approaching the administration block to seek audience with management, police allegedly started tear gassing them and opened fire and in the process one protester was shot dead.

Meanwhile, kasama district commission, Elizabeth Goma, has described the death of the laborer as unfortunate and regrettable.
