Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga has implored the media fraternity not to compromise on its objectivity in view of the liberties and freedoms that the new dawn administration has provided.

Mr. Mulenga says the new government will not unleash party cadres on the media because it understands its role as the fourth estate of governance.

Speaking when he officiated at the public private dialogue forum media engagement in Lusaka, Mr. Mulenga says his government is ready and willing to learn from all the media on Zambia irrespective of what they are covering.

And Mr. Mulenga has since urged the media to report on issues that seek to promote developmental agendas as opposed to those that divide the nation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mulenga says the public private dialogue forum with support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is an engine the new dawn government wants to ride on in delivering to the aspirations of the Zambian people.

He says this will give Zambian entrepreneurs a platform to have their voices heard unlike in the past where only the foreign business community was prioritized.

Speaking at the same event, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information and Media Kennedy Kalunga has called on the media to place a high premium on reporting on the economy and development issues that improve and impact on the lives of the people.
