Mongu Mayor Nyambe Muyumbana has summoned the contractor engaged to construct a maternity ward at Mawawa Clinic despite being paid.
Mr Muyumbana has told qfm news that the council has received the complaint from the residents that the contractors had abandoned the construction site at Mawawa Clinic in Kaande Ward.
He says the development is disturbing, hence the summoning of the contractor to get to understand what challenges he’s facing to complete the project.
Mr Muyumbana says the local authority will ensure that the construction of the maternity ward is completed.
He however, has not ruled out the possibility of cancelling the contract if not amicable solution is found.
And Mr Nyambe has disclosed that the council has secured land for a dumpsite along the Mongu-Lusaka road.
He says this will help the council address the issue of garbage collection.
Mr Muyumbana states that the lack of a dump site made it almost impossible to collect garbage in the district.
