Mines minister Paul Kabuswe says government has no plans of repossessing the black mountain in Kitwe and handing it over to the Zambia National Service (ZNS) to operate.

Opposition Green Party president, Peter Sinkamba, recently advised the ministry of mines and minerals development to consider handing over the slug dump popularly known as the black mountain to the Zambia National Service in an effort bring sanity at the slug dump.

But Speaking to Q-news, Mr. Kabuswe says those calling for the slug dump to be handed over to ZNS are hallucinating.

He says operations at the black mountain are peaceful and orderly, with all parties involved getting a fair share including the chrome pickers.

Mr. Kabuswe says the black mountain is a success story which had teething problems as is the case with all big projects at the beginning.

The Minister states that safety measures have been put in place which is why no accident has been recorded at the slug dump.
