The Medical for Quality Health Care in Zambia (MQHCZ) has recommended for the re-introduction of measures such as restricting of public gathering among others in the wake of the cold weather which is associated with an upsurge in cases of covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses like influenza.

MQHCZ director general Quince Mwabu has also predicted that Zambia is likely to witness a surge in covid-19 due to a number of factors such as the change in weather, low number of vaccinated members of the public and relaxation when it comes to adherence to the provided guideline against the  pandemic.

In an interview with Q-News, Mr. Mwabu said there is need for the ministry of health to be proactive and work with other stakeholders in developing a proper homegrown strategy for enhanced sensitization on covid-19.

He also notes the need for the country to embrace vaccination not only for COVID19 but other respiratory illnesses like influenza.
