The Zambia Tax Platform (ZTP) has called upon the Government to enhance domestic revenue mobilization through tobacco taxation.
ZTP Social Economic and Investment Monitoring Analyst, Peter Mumba has also urged Government to expedite the process of domesticating the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in Zambia.
Mr Mumba says despite having ratified this treaty in 2008, the FCTC has not been domesticated in the country as there is no law to support the implementation of its provisions.
He has stressed the need to domesticate progressive provisions of the framework that speaks to generating of revenues through tobacco taxation as stipulated in Article six of the FCTC.
