Govt urged to prioritize completion of 115 secondary schools

Zambia National Education Coalition (ZENEC) Executive Director, George Hamusunga is urging government to prioritize the completion of stalled works involving the 115 secondary schools countrywide.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr Hamusunga says in view of the free education policy that the government has introduced, money that was allocated in the 2022 national budget towards infrastructure should be used in the completion of the said schools.

Mr. Hamusunga notes that the 2022 national budget, government has allocated about K380 million towards infrastructure which should be used to complete the works on the schools.

And National Action for Quality Education in Zambia Executive Director Aaron Chansa says he is saddened by government’s failure to complete the works on the over 100 secondary schools in the country.

Mr Chansa has called on the ministry of finance to source for funds which will go towards the completion of the works.
