MOH procures over 30,000 sunscreen lotion for Albinos

The Ministry of Health says over 30,000 of sunscreen lotion has been procured and is expected to be available for distribution to persons living with albinism by next week.

Ministry of health Assistant director pharmaceuticals, Mathews Mwale has told Q news that the SP30 and SP50 Sunscreen lotion which will come in quantities of 15,000 each was included as part of the emergency health kit that government has procured.

Mr. Mwale who has acknowledged the none availability of the sunscreen lotion says a decision was made to have the first batch of the lotion included as part of the emergency drugs consignment after engagements with the albinism association which explained the dire need for the lotion.

Recently, Disability rights activist John Chiti disclosed that more than 30,000 persons living with albinism in Zambia are in need of sunscreen lotion which is currently not available in the country.
