Department of National Parks And Wildlife Officers are hunting for the loose lion that was spotted in Kafue area last evening.

Ministry of Tourism and Arts Public Relations Officer, Sakabilo Kalembwe has confirmed that the Department of National Park and Wildlife is in receipt of information that a lone lion has been spotted in Kafue area and is posing a danger to the lives of residents.

Mr. Kalembwe says officers from the Department are camping at the site where the lion was spotted roaming and are ready to dart it immediately they set sight on it.

He has since cautioned residents in the area to desist from moving in the night until the Department ascertains that it is safe to do so.

Mr. Kalembwe tells Q-News that the Department has also received information about three cases of attacks on domestic animals, two cows and one goat, believed by residents to be attacks by the wild animal.

He, however, states that the Department will not be quick to conclude that the picture of a lone lion that has been circulating on various social media platforms is indeed of the lion on the loose.
