The Ministry of local government and rural development says it has given the go-ahead to local authorities across the country to start accepting applications for the CDF program from groups that have formed cooperatives even before they obtain certificates.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Q-news, Ministry of local government and rural development permanent secretary for Administration, Maambo Hamaundu says cooperatives can now start submitting their applications to benefit from the CDF by using payment documents of registration.

Mr. Hamaundu says this is in order to cushion the delay caused by relevant registration bodies to issue certificates to cooperatives.

He has since urged those that have applied to register their cooperatives and have not yet received their certificates not to wait to be issued with certificates before applying, but use payment documents to accompany their applications.
