ZICTA releases 800mhz and the 2600mhz spectrum

Technology and science minister Felix Mutati has urged players in the telecommunications sector to utilize the public private dialogue forum [PPD] launched this week to have challenges experienced in the sector addressed.

Speaking at the launch of the 800 MHZ and 2600 MHZ spectrum band offer, Mr. Mutati says government wants to see to that the network providers thrive in their businesses as that will lead to improved service revision and customer satisfaction.

Mr. Mutati has since called on stakeholders to submit their challenges so that the new dawn government can consider addressing them in the 2023 national budget.

Earlier, MTN chief executive officer Bart Hofker appealed to government to consider reducing the cost of doing business for network service providers in the country.

And Zambia information and communication technology authority [ZICTA] director general Pethel Phiri disclosed that ZICTA is currently auctioning the two spectrum bands 800mhz and the 2600mhz that will enable service providers to provide 5g and 95 percent country overage for both mobile and broadband use.
