Presidential salary to be channeled towards education of orphans

President Hakainde Hichilema has hinted that his salary will be channeled towards the education for the orphans in the country.

President Hichilema has confirmed that he has not taken his salary since he was elected as president because his mind is more concerned about the plight of Zambia among them whether Zambians have access to food, water and good shelter among others.

The Head of state says government intends to identify the beneficiaries from his salary and put up the structure that will manage his funds.

President Hichilema says he will also engage his business friends to contribute towards the funds so that the number of the beneficiaries can be increased.

Meanwhile President Hichilema has called for the localization of the keep Zambia clean campaign at the ward level to sustain the initiative.

Speaking today during the official launch of the cleaning exercise of the central business district in commemoration of Kenneth Kaunda day, President Hichilema says the local communities must not wait for the ministers and members of parliament but get involved in such initiatives.  

The head of state has further called for hard-working to alleviate life of people as a way of emulating the late Dr Kaunda whom he said was a special person not only to the country but globally.

The head of state was accompanied by Local Government Minister, Garry Nkombo, Defense Minister Ambrose Lufuna, Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe and Lusaka City Council Mayor Chilando Chitangala.
