Economist Lubinda Haabazoka says it is currently not necessary for the United States of America to propose the establishment of AFRICOM offices in Zambia at a time that aggression between Nato Russia and china is at its highest pick.

Dr. Haabazoka says Zambia needs to think through this very carefully without emotions, and apply to USA to shelve their plans for now.

He says Zambia has no terrorist threats or any war threats for the USA to establish AFRICOM and command from Zambia, adding that AFRICOM exists to protect us interests.

Dr. Haabazoka has charged that Zambia needs access to us and European markets, but states that foreign military presence is not Zambia’s priority.

On Tuesday the United States Africa command (AFRICOM) announced that it will open an office of security cooperation at the U.S. embassy in Zambia in an effort to build on the foundation of the US Zambia shared security interests as well as enhance military to military relations and expand areas of cooperation.
