Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company Public Relations Officer Nshamba Muzungu has urged the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council [NWASCO] to consider revising the water tariffs owing to the high cost of doing business.
Mr. Muzungu says the business environment hampered by different macroeconomic indicators such as inflation rate, the exchange rate, and cost of electricity, fuel pump price and cost of chemicals for purifying water are affecting the utility’s operation.
He says these factors hinder the profitability of the utility company.
Mr. Muzungu says in order for the utility company to stay in the business and continue providing a service to clients there should be a consideration of tariff adjustment.
