Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition (CSO-SCU) Alliance says the high cost of living in the country is a clear indication that the country is derailing from meeting SDG number 1 and 2 targets by the year 2030.

Sustainable Development Goal number 1 speaks to ending poverty in all its forms everywhere while SDG number 2 aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

CSO-SUN Alliance Country Coordinator, Matthews Mhuru says the new dawn government needs to look at this issue with the urgency, stating that if the country continues on this path, it is unlikely to meet the SDG targets by 2030.

Mr Mhuru says his organization is concerned with the high cost of living and food in the country with the recent JCTR Basic Needs Basket showing cost of living to be above K9,000 for a family of 5.

He says government must put measures in place to address the high cost of living as this has not been given the attention it deserves.

Mr Muhuru advises government to come up with a committee of experts to provide guidance on the cost of living.
