The Civil Society Constitution Agenda (CISCA) has strongly condemned the growing trend by some senior UPND members to make unconstitutional utterances.

Recently during a meeting with ruling party cadres on the copperbelt, UPND provincial chairman who is also provincial minister Elisha Matambo reportedly warned those ‘insulting’ president Hichilema that the UPND would no longer tolerate this ‘stupidity’ and would defend the president and tie the culprits with wires.

But CISCA chairperson Judith Mulenga states that such kinds of utterances by a government and senior party official amount to instigating violence and sowing seeds of dictatorship which cannot be allowed to continue in a multi-party democracy.

Ms Mulenga has since challenged president Hichilema to publicly censure his Copperbelt Minister failure to which he risks never knowing when his 2.8 million voters would have disengaged from him.

She has also cautioned UPND members to refrain from creating unnecessary tension in the country at the time the people are struggling to come to terms with the unexpected economic hardships.
