The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) says it has taken keen interest in revelations of alleged ghost health workers in the ministry of health.

In a ministerial statement to parliament last week, Health Minister, Sylvia Masebo revealed that a scam had been unearthed in her ministry involving ghost health facilities and workers across the country following conflicting numbers of employed health workers on the ground and on the records at the ministry headquarters.

ACC Spokesperson Queen Chibwe tells Q-news that the commission will move in to investigate how the existence of ghost workers to establish any willful failure to follow procedure, if there was any bribery as well as abuse of authority.

Mrs. Chibwe states the commission has taken it upon itself to ensure there is transparency and accountability in the manner people are getting employed and in the manner they are carrying out their work.

Meanwhile Mrs. Chibwe has re-emphasized the commission’s involvement in the recruitment process of health workers at all level starting from the district to PSMD level.

She says this is to ensure that the list of people that will be selected from the district level will be the same that will go through to the province, PSMD and final publication.
