Medical for Quality Healthcare in Zambia (MQHZ) Director General, Quince Mwabu has called on the Anti-Corruption Commission to take interest in the possible existence of ghost workers in Ministry of Health which has led to some Directors being sent on forced leave.

In a ministerial statement made in Parliament last week, Health Minister Sylvia Masebo said her ministry had unearthed a scam involving ghost health facilities and workers across the country.

Dr. Mwabu has also called for a proper auditing of all health workers at the Ministry of Health to ensure the number of health workers reflects the true number of existing workers.

He says the health sector needs a proper overhaul to ensure everything starts moving smoothly.

But Resident Doctors Association of Zambia President Brian Sampa told qtv news that Health Minister Sylvia Masebo rushed in sending five senior officials at the ministry on forced leave.

Dr. Sampa says to create one facility and have it gazette is not something that can be done by the ministry of health alone, but a syndicate.

He has since called for a thorough investigation into the supposed ghost health facilities and workers across the country.

Dr. Sampa says the association is interested to see the evidence so that people are not victimized and mistreated for things that are not there.
