The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has called on Education Minister Douglas Syakalima to immediately resolve the impasse at the Copperbelt University to avoid agitating students.

The Copperbelt University and Academics Union has rejected a 4 to 5 percent salary increment demanding an increment of not less than 12 percent across board.

NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa says the 4 to 5 percent increment is too little, thus the need for the minister to consider the demands of the union and avert the disruption of the academic calendar.

Mr. Chansa has told QTV that it is worrying that the same problems have remained unresolved at the second highest learning institution.

He says it is for this reason that government through the Ministry of Education should take interest at the happenings at the Copperbelt University were lecturers are at loggerheads with management.
