The Civil Society Organizations Decentralization Alliance Network (CSO DAN) has accused the National Assembly of abrogating the Constitution.

Organization Interim National Coordinator, George Chimembe has noted with concern that the National Assembly which is supposed to be the credo of democracy is allegedly abrogating article 88 of the Constitution which entrenches participation of ordinary citizens in the democratic governance of the nation.

Mr. Chimembe says the summoning of Mr. Nakachinda by Parliament is an abrogation of National Values and Principles especially the values of democracy, constitutionalism and good governance as espoused in the constitution under article 8.

He tells Qtv news that the action by the National Assembly has potential to intimidate citizens from participating in governance through constituency offices.

Mr. Chimembe adds that this defeats the transformative agenda which is being pursued by President Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr. Nakacinda has been summoned to present himself before the Committee on Privileges over a recent comment he made against Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti.
