The new dawn UPND government has been called upon to counter the high cost of living with the low cost of doing business especially for local businesses.

Opposition Golden Party of Zambia leader , Jackson Silavwe states that the main objective of countering the high cost of living with low cost of doing business is to give individuals and businesses increased spending power thus offloading that much needed kwacha into circulation.

Mr. Silavwe has called on president hakainde hichilema to direct his economic council to study in-depth the cost of doing business and registration and come up with recommendations that will truly lower the cost of doing business.

He has since suggested that the UPND government can reduce the cost of doing business by abolishing the workers compensation board and fuse workers compensation into NAPSA remittance, merge fire certificate license into business levy certificate for all trading business and provide tax incentives for business that employ more than 50 graduates straight from schools and pays them a minimum wage.

He further suggests that the government can reduce company tax to 20% and abolish tax holidays for foreign companies, lower pay as you earn to increase disposable income for workers, abolish turnover tax on commercial properties and improve collection of land rates, amend the act that creates the CCPC and simplify company/business registration.
