The filing of fresh nominations for the Kabwata parliamentary by-election is underway at St Patrick’s Primary school ahead of the poll set for 3rd February,2022.
The by-election was initially slated for 20th January,2022, but was cancelled by the Electoral Commission of Zambia after the former UPP candidate Francis Libanda withdrew from the race citing Article 52 of the constitution.
By broadcast time, three candidates from Democratic party, Patriotic Front and Economic Equity Party had so far filed in their nominations.
The PF has maintained Clement Tembo as it candidate while the DP which was prevented from filing nominations in the cancelled nominations is fielding Fredrick Mubanga with the EEP fielding Chilufya Tayali.
Speaking after successfully filing in his nomination papers, DP candidate Fredrick Mubanga has pledged to workd with the people to bring development to Kabwata.
And EEP candidate Chilufya Tayali who is also party president says he is going into the by-election with the aim of providing critical objective checks and balances to the government.
The Kabwata parliamentary seat fell vacant following the demise of area MP Levy Mkandawire.
