The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ)says contractors have already moved in to begin works at the five provincial stadia across the country earmarked for upgrading to international standards.

FAZ Communications Manager Sydney Mungala has told QTV Sports in an interview that the stadia include Kaole in Mansa, Independence in Solwezi, Kasama in Kasama, David Kaunda in Chipata and Maramba in Livingstone.

Mungala explains that Maramba Stadium in Livingstone is under a different construction program with government taking a lead role while FAZ will provide USD300, 000 through the FIFA infrastructure support program.

He says FAZ has no doubt that once this first phase is completed, the upgrade of these stadia will inspire the leadership in the provinces to work harder towards talent identification.

Mungala says the initiative is part of the ten year plan to initiate stadia construction in the remaining five provinces that are not part of phase one with the ultimate goal of having the 10 provincial centers have one modern stadium.
