Construction of chikani secondary school advances

Chikankata District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Lizzy Lweendo Nyoni says the construction of Chikani Secondary School by the World Bank in Chikankata District of southern province has advanced although currently the works have stalled.

Ms. Nyoni said currently the school has learners from grade 8 up to grade 12 and hoped that the school will be completed for smooth learning by the pupils.

Ms. Nyoni said Chikani Secondary School is being funded by the world fund adding that the construction works of this vital infrastructure commenced in 2017.

She said management is considering to lobby funds from the constituency development fund so that the learning institution can be completed all things being equal this year.

Ms. Nyoni added that so far, Chikani Secondary School has consumed colossal amount of money from the time construction works was initiated although currently the works have stalled.

And Ms Nyoni further disclosed that there is critical crisis of accommodation for teachers at Chikani Secondary School.

She said the construction of teacher’s houses at the learning institution have also not yet been completed.
