The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has described the year 2021 as a good, historic but very hectic year.

FODEP executive director George Chimembe tells q-news that 2021 has been a good year because Zambians had the opportunity to speak through the ballot and delivered their verdict by voting out the patriotic front and voting in the new dawn UPND alliance.

Mr. Chimembe states that 2021 will go down in history as the year in which Zambians spoke through a protest vote and in which youths turned up in large numbers to cast their vote which contributed to the change of government.

He, however, states that the year was hectic especially in the build up to the general election where desperation was exhibited during campaigns through acts of vote buying, violence, tribalism and character assassinations.

Mr. Chimembe is hopeful that 2022 will be a year in which sanity will be restored in various government wings.

He adds that 2022 is a very important year as citizens have high expectations of the new dawn government as it implements the 2022 national budget.
