Zambia has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in a single day since the spread of the disease to the country, with 5,255 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
Health Minister Sylvia Masebo has told a media briefing that the cases were detected from 16,774 tests conducted.
Ms Masebo says 10 Covid-19 related deaths were also recorded during the same period bringing the death toll to 3,726.
She adds that 629 recoveries were also recorded.
Ms Masebo says there are currently 25,703 active cases, with 316 patients admitted to isolation facilities while 25,387 are under community management.
The Minister states that 113 patients are on oxygen with 13 in critical condition.
