The Ministry of Community Development has disclosed that over K300 million has been disbursed under the social cash transfer program in 2021 benefiting over 900,000 households.
Ministry director for social welfare Kennedy Mumba who has described the program as a success tells Q-news that the years 2018 and 2019 where not good years for the implementation of the program as it was marred with irregularities.
Mr. Mumba, however, states that the ministry managed to put systems in place to address issues of mismanagement, proper identification of beneficiaries and transparency and accountability which have since seen the number of beneficiaries massively improving and the disbursement of funds being up to date.
