A mini bus driver has narrated in the Lusaka magistrate court how ruling United Party for National Development cadres have persistently prevented him from operating from Lumumba bus station following the swearing-in of President Hakainde Hichilema as Zambia’s 7th President.

This is in the matter in which George Hanzekulu, Dan Zulu and others have dragged Nicholas Silooka, William Kalumba and others to court for blocking other bus drivers perceived to be PF members from operating at Lumumba bus station.

Despite magistrate Felix Kaoma earlier ruling that no bus driver should be stopped from operating at the station, the aggrieved in this matter have not been given access to the public facility.

When the matter came up for trial, Hanzekulu told the court that immediately President Hakainde Hichilema was sworn-in as republican president, the wind of change saw a lot of confusion at the station and when he went there to witness the confusion among bus drivers, he was advised to go back home and never come back because he belonged to the patriotic front and his time was up.

He narrates that when he tried to work from city market bus station, he was chased by a Mr Banda who alleged that instructions had reached him to chase every person that had worked with the PF in the bus stations.

magistrate Felix Kaoma has since adjourned the matter to tomorrow, 30th December, 2021 for cross examination and continued trial.
