Government has challenged the church to continue providing checks and balances without fear or favor.

Republican vice president W.K Mutale Nalumango has said government appreciates the role that the church plays in unifying the nation and providing guidance to its leaders.

Mrs Nalumango was speaking in a speech read on her behalf by minister of green economy and environment Collins Nzovu during the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation in Lusaka today.

She says it is the duty of the church to make the government accountable for everything that it does.

Mrs Nalumango has since assured that the government will continue supporting the church in its role of providing moral guidance to the nation and government.

Speaking at the same event, chairperson of the organizing committee for the declaration of Zambia as a christian nation Bishop Billy Mfula has commended the new dawn administration for upholding the declaration of Zambia as a christian nation.
