Mother hits son with iron bar over chicken

Police in Lusaka have arrested a 33-year-old woman of Misisi compound for hitting her eight-year-old son with an iron bar on his genitals after she found him stealing a piece of chicken from a pot.

Confirming the development, Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says Police have formerly charged and arrested Jessy Banda for the offence of Assault on a Child Contrary to Section 248A of CAP 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Mr. Hamoonga says the incident occurred on 26th December, 2021 and that the accused will appear in court soon.

And Authorities at the University Teaching Hospital have confirmed attending to the boy who has since been discharged from hospital.
