Energy Regulation Board (ERB) Acting Director General Fred Hang’andu says the board is currently examining the liquefied petroleum gas plant in Lusaka’s Shantumbu area which is using rubber and plastic to make clean energy gas.

According to central African Renewable Energy Corporation Limited Director Mulenga Mulenga, the mini-plant is able to produce 700 liters of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) which has been certified by the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS).

But Mr. Hang’andu has told q news that the board will have to ascertain whether the facility is licensed to conduct such operations.

He says ERB will also establish what capacity and quantity the plant is producing and what standards they are using to produce the cheap fuel which they claim can be used in any motor vehicle.

Mr. Hang’andu says ERB will not rush to condemn or promote the operations at the facility without conducting due checks on the parameters under which the facility is working.
