The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) has adopted Andrew Tayengwa as its candidate for the Kabwata parliamentary by-election slated for 22nd January,2022.
Making the announcement at a media briefing in Lusaka today, UPND Chairperson for elections Garry Nkombo says 13 candidates had applied to stand on the party ticket.
Mr Nkombo has thanked all candidates who expressed interest to contest on the UPND ticket.
And Mr Nkombo says it’s the desire of the party to have peaceful by-elections in Kabwata.
He hopes that all political parties participating in the Kabwata parliamentary by-election will conduct peaceful campaigns devoid of violence.
Mr Nkombo has since called upon the Police to play their impartial role in maintaining law and order during the by-election.
