The country has in the last 24 hours recorded seven (7) COVID-19 related deaths and 1,356 new cases out of 4,449 tests conducted giving a 40% overall positivity.
Giving a Covid-19 update this morning, Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says all the seven deaths recorded were among the unvaccinated aged between 23 and 90.
Ms Masebo says Lusaka recorded 4 deaths,with Ndola,Chinsali and Livingstone recording one each respectively.
She says this brings the cumulative Covid-19 death toll to 3,709.
And Ms Masebo says 69 hospital admissions were recorded in the last 24 hours.
She says there are currently 18,055 active cases with 274 cases admitted to isolation facilities, with 87 on oxygen therapy while 16 are in critical condition.
The Health Minister adds that of those admitted, 84% are unvaccinated.
Ms Masebo further states that during the last 24 hours, 38 facility discharges were recorded.
Meanwhile Ms Masebo says the ministry has today commenced administering booster vaccines for those eligible and the vaccination of children from the age of 12.
